Furmeet 12APR2011

The fourth Furmeet of the year was a change: the weather was nice! We gathered up and looked over some art. We proceeded to watched Rune Solider, which was just a riot. At the end of this comedy, we talked a bit about the Fur Con being planned for Iowa 2013. I showed the group what articles of organization looked like as we talked about 501(c)3 compared to 501(c)7.

That didn't last long as people were complaining about brains hurting, and then the last member attending showed up. He, having no clue what we just looked at, started to get literal about his food preference as hunger loomed over the meet. I refined my question, complete with clauses and word exclusions to his allowed repies. It was a long-winded form of the question, but also very funny as he was stumped on how he could answer without answering. Being hungry, and the joke being over, we flipped a coin to pick walking or driving and then we started walking in the direction of food places. We talked of many random thing from water level of floods to Moonshards and Morphicon with the conversation drifting back to FoXI Con repeatedly.

The next thing you know we are in an Asian food market picking up miso soup and rice for sushi or rice balls. I was unable to find any shrimp ramen that wasn't spicy, and I can't stand the American *insert four letter word here* that you can get in most stores. Then we headed over to Hy-Vee to eat there and found the door locked with a sign that clearly indicated the side door was locked at 6pm. Figuring we were just a few minutes late we found it to be well after 7pm. So we went to go in the front door only to change our minds and go to Subway instead as no one really knew why were were going to eat at Hy-Vee, and Subway all of a sudden sounded better.

I ordered first to ensure the server didn't touch meat with her gloves then touch my food. I hate allergies. Then ordered the rest of my meal. The others in the crowd were being rather ADH ... ooo shiney. I commented to those who actually worked fast food and said lets not be the kind of customers we hate to serve. While the people behind the counter assured us it's okay they have had worse, we all agreed that we shouldn't hold others up. I'm glad to see that, while not always observent of their actions, when pointed out, everyone at the meet tries to correct it. It's a trait I find very often in the furry fandom.

We found a nice quiet place to eat in the corner and talked about the most random things, from someone's rump teaching you Spanish to speeding tickets. The walk back was COLD! So we ran a good quarter of the way with me singing cadence. Took not very long to realise how out of shape I had become sense getting married. Apparenly sitting on a couch cuddling with someone does not provide as much exercise as walking or running.

Upon getting back, we hung out in the game room, and it turned into an informal staff meeting for FoXI Con as we tried to discuss events, logos, dates, chain of command, democracy over council over ruler. Being or not being a club, what events would be needed, how much focus on which subjects. The conversation turned rather mature the deeper then evening wore on, and by the time the last person left at 3 AM, I was too tired to blog about anything.

I hope to see everyone back at the next Furmeet on the 10MAY2011. Then after that meet, I blog, go to sleep, get up, and drive to Columbus, Ohio, to help staff Morphicon.
